As of the 1st October 2011 Imaging Equipment have become the Technegas distributor in the UK. Technegas is an ultrafine dispersion of Tc-99m labelled carbon used for Nuclear Medicine Ventilation/Perfusion (V/Q) exams, and has been used successfully in the UK for 15 years. Recently, there has been an increase in the amount and quality of research including some from the UK, which has provided new clinical data that confirms the high levels of sensitivity and specificity of Technegas. This data supports the move towards the increased use of Technegas in both traditional planar V/Q and SPECT-VQ, and the expanding use of VQ imaging compared with CTPA.
