Sun Nuclear, market leaders in Linear accelerator and IVD QA instruments has launched its 'IC PROFILER' product. This product is marketed through UK distributors Imaging Equipment Ltd.
IC PROFILER is a LINAC radiation beam scanning system providing real time beam profile data for beam alignment during LINAC factory testing, for field installation and service, and for routine testing of LINAC beam characteristics in clinical sites.
IC PROFILER Hardware:
IC PROFILER USES 249 ionization chambers placed in four linear arrays (X,Y and two Diagonals). on a 5mm grid, resulting in 5mm detector spacing on the X and Y axes, and 7.07mm detector spacing on the diagonals. Measurement range is specified at 32cm on both X and Y axe and 45cm on the diagonals.
Fast Set Up:
A 25 metre cable connects the IC PROFILER to a small power supply located outside the LINAC bunker. The power supply connects via USB or 9-pin serial cable to a computer which is used to operate the IC PROFILER.
The IC PROFILER software operates on most conventional PC's. Both rate and integrated profiles are measured and displayed. The rate profile is a real time update of the beam intensity, update frequency is adjustable from 10 times per second to once per second and each update can be saved for later playback. There is no limit on the beam duration or integration. The data acquisition cycle is triggered by accelerator pulses which are recorded along with the beam profile data in each update.
Technical Highlights:
The IC PROFILER is designed to measure pulsed and continuous radiation. Pulsed radiation is measured with an algorithm for radiation pulse synchronization. Continuous radiation is measured by timed synchronization.
Any IC PROFILER detector in a radiation beam will initiate a measurement for the entire array. This is important for modulated fields shaped by MLC banks or a moving collimator jaw.
