MapCHECK™, manufactured by the Sun Nuclear Corporation, the world leading IMRT array has added more functionality to its already comprehensive capabilities. For most departments justifying a relatively expensive device purely for IMRT plan verification is very difficult with a limited budget. MapCHECK™ addresses this perfectly by providing a wider range of associated QA and Dosimetry. The instrument retains its status as the most accurate device for IMRT QA, but adds structure analysis, MLC QA, Gafchromic analysis and more.
Further developments of the instrument now offer high detector density and 4D capability.
The MapCHECK™ success is driven by its diode accuracy, critical to IMRT measurements. Dose volume averaging is a problem created by using large detectors such as Ion Chambers when measuring steep dose gradients in the penumbra region. MapCHECK™ has radiation hardened diode detectors, 445 in total, that measure just 0.8 x 0.8mm giving pinpoint accuracy where it matters.
