A homogenous water equivalent phantom is now available for dosimetry of rotational radiotherapy beams. The MapPHAN™ is a water equivalent phantom that holds the MapCHECK™ 2D array at Isocentre for rotational dosimetry offering the user an accurate and convenient solution. MapPHAN™ with MapCHECK™ has successfully been tested with RapidArc, TomoTherapy and VMAT. Coronal and saggittal measurements are support and any new or existing MapCHECK™ user can upgrade to MapPHAN™
Effective for Head and Neck Cases:
A Head and Neck field was delivered to MapPHAN and MapCHECK using a rotational delivery enabled LINAC. A 98.5% pass rate was achieved using 3% and 3mm DTA criteria in absolute dose mode. A 93.1% pass rate was achieved using 2% and 2mm DTA criteria in absolute dose mode. The MapPHAN TM model used with the MapCHECK for the displayed results has a 5cm water equivalent thickness from both the top and bottom of the measurement plane.
10 x 10cm: Proof of Concept
A 10 x 10 field was delivered to MapPHAN with MapCHECK using a rotational delivery enabled LINAC. A 99.7% pass rate was achieved using 3% and 3mm DTA criteria in absolute dose mode.
A 94.8% pass rate was achieved using 2% and 2mm DTA criteria in absolute dose mode.
Effective in Prostate Cases
A prostate field was delivered to MapPHAN with MapCHECK using a rotational delivery enabled LINAC. A 93.6% pass rate was achieved using 2% and 2mm DTA criteria in absolute dose mode.
Specifications and options
The phantom is constructed from Virtual water™ and has cross hair scribed line on both top and sides, it covers an area of 30 x 31.4cm. The product is available is 5, 10 and 15cm thicknesses.
